Mission Statement
OGC is dedicated to bringing glory to God by pursuing
artistic excellence through a system of choirs that are integrated
racially and socio-economically in an environment of mutual respect
and encouragement.
Bringing Glory To God: The goal of every aspect of OGC community
life is to bring glory to God. This includes:
Relationships among girls
Relationships between girls and adult leadership
Behavior at Rehearsals
Focus of Performances
Interactions with the audience before and after
performances
Pursuing Excellence:
Artistry and choral excellence pursued at all choral levels
All new members of the Touring and Chamber Choirs must demonstrate
mastery over all concepts and skills necessary for the completion of Level III Training Choir
All choir members must sign contract agreeing to observe strict attendance requirements,
respectful disposition towards director, other choir members, parent helpers, and audiences in all circumstances
System of Choirs:
OGC is dedicated to developing a program with 3
levels of training choirs, the requirements of which must be fulfilled
prior to admittance into the Tour or Chamber Choir
The first training choir (OGTC) was launched in
September 2007
The Sequential Curricula will provide a solid musical
foundation in healthy vocal production, rounded vowels and clear
diction, intonation, choral blending, independent part-singing and sight-singing
Through positive reinforcement, the sequential
curricula will also provide a solid foundation in the following
non-musical elements: Attentiveness at rehearsals, attendance, being prepared for rehearsals,
performance etiquette, respectful attitude towards peers, director and audience
All new members of the Touring and Chamber Choirs must demonstrate

Integrated Racially and Socio-Economically:
OGC is dedicated to raising scholarship funds so
that membership is available to all qualified girls regardless of ability to pay
OGC is pursuing ways in which to make the choirs
more racially integrated
OGC is investigating the possibility of opening a
satellite branch in Wilkinsburg, Homewood or East Liberty
Environment of Mutual Respect and Encouragement:
Physical, social and emotional violence is not tolerated
Cliques are strongly discouraged
Girls are encouraged to support and encourage one another
All Choir members are valued as equally important
The Big Sister program provides an opportunity for
the older girls to mentor the younger girls in every
area of choral life including musical, social and performance
